Come and celebrate 100 years of public transport in the ACT with the Canberra Transport Museum!

When: Saturday, 26th September 2026

Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Where: Platform 1, Cohen Street Bus Station, Belconnen.

We will be celebrating the last 100 years of public transport through static vehicle displays including old ACTION Buses, current Transport Canberra vehicles, as well as some other surprise vehicles.

We will have photo displays of the last hundred years both at Cohen Street and also on board the two vehicles running on the day. We will have static displays of transport memorabilia including uniforms, signs, ticket machines, timetables etc.

There will also be stands from other transport related organisations on display to celebrate the event.

In the event of wet weather, the event will still go ahead however displays will be moved inside the display vehicles, in the case of rain we suggest still attending but to bring an umbrella.

Heritage Bus Rides

We will have a special 333 running throughout the day running between Tuggeranong Interchange and Cohen Street, stopping at Woden and City Interchanges as well. Tickets for this service will be $5 per person and will include unlimited trips on the 333 service for the day. There are no concession tickets available and children under 5 are free. We accept cash and card payments but ask you please use exact change where possible if paying cash.

The 333 service will operate with our Heritage Renault PR180.2 articulated bus and also a Transport Canberra low floor Volgren Scania K360UA to provide an accessible service. The timetable is designed so that every second bus is an accessible vehicle. This service will only pick up and set down at the following stops:

Towards Belconnen: Tuggeranong Inter’ Platform 9, Woden Inter’ Platform 8, City Inter’ Platform 5.

Towards Tuggeranong: Cohen Street Platform 2, City Interchange Platform 7, Woden Interchange Platform 1.

Heritage Display

• Where is the best parking for the display?

Parking can be found on Josephson st, a short walk away, however we encourage attendees to use our heritage bus services which will drop them directly at the event.

• What happens if it rains?

This event is an all-weather event, in the event of bad weather we will move as many of the displays as we can into the static display vehicles, however some larger exhibits may need to be cancelled.

• Do I need to pay to attend the event?

Entry to the event is free however if you want to ride the special 333 service fares will apply (see above).

• Are there any accessibility constraints at the event?

The memorabilia display area is wheelchair accessible however please note that some older vehicles on display may have stairs and will not be accessible.

• Is this event family friendly?

Yes, it is for young and old!

• Is there a toilet on site?

Unfortunately, not. The nearest public bathrooms can be found at Westfield Belconnen which is a (downhill) 7-minute walk away.

We also ask you to take any rubbish with you to help clean the event space clean.

• How long will it take to see everything?

Please allow around 30-45 minutes to see all the displays, if you plan to catch our 333 service the journey will take around 2 hours for a round trip from Belconnen to Tuggeranong and back to Belconnen. Noting if you would like to catch both buses on this service, it will take three hours to make the return journey due to the timetabling of the vehicles being used.

• Can I donate to the Canberra Transport Museum?

Yes of course, we would greatly appreciate any donations. You may choose to drop cash in the farebox on our heritage articulated bus, or we can process a donation by card on either of the buses in service. You may also donate at any time using our website at www.ctm.org.au.

• Will there be any food or merchandise for sale?

No, the event is purely to celebrate transport heritage, there is no food or merchandise for sale.

• Can I take photos and videos?

Yes, please do! It is encouraged.

• What if I lose an item on the bus, how can I get it back?
